How to change the background of an image using Adobe Photoshop

Hello and welcome everyone.Ever wondered how people change the background of animage or add another?

Today we will show you how to change the background of an image using Adobe Photoshop Cs5.The method will be very easy and not time taking.

Requirements

• Adobe Photoshop ( We will be using Cs5 in this tutorial ).

• Image you want to cut background from and background to add.

Note : I will refer ''guy" as your image and "background" as background :)

Difficulty Level : Super Easy

1. Open up Photoshop and drag your image to Photoshop

you want to edit and the background you want to add.

2. Now select the guy layer and click on pen tool from tool

bar or hit 'p' to select pen tool.

3. Now through pen tool start masking the edges of the

subject you want to add custom background.

4. After masking is completed right click on your mouse and

select make selection. A window will open just hit enter and you will see moving dashes around your subject.

5. With guy layer selected go to quick selection tool or hit 'w' on your keyboard.Once you have selected you will see button on which refine edge is written, click on it.

6. A window will appear and play around with feather and

smoothness to get right edges.I can't tell exact value

because for every image it would be different according to the quality of image.Click on ok and then right click on your mouse and select 'layer via cut' and make sure guy

layer is selected.

7. Now new layer will be created known as 'layer 1'.Select

the guy layer remember this is not the thing you want to appear as it was the original background.Now click on the little eye type thing to hide the layer or delete the guy

layer.See the image displayed below carefully.

8. Now add your custom background to photoshop.I

have created mine in Photoshop itself.

9. Position it to the bottom of all the layer. I mean below Layer 1 and you will see the magic.

You are all done.You can also use quick selection tool by pressing 'w' on your keyboard instead of using pen tool.Use the icon with + sign to select and - sign to deselect and start from Step 5.
